We have Dwarf Lops!!!!

This is the photograph that started it all...  Cute or what?

We had no intention of having dwarf lops.  However an 'unexpected' family was the inevitable product of a mistake in sexing rabbits by a pet shop in Hampshire.  The worried owners, unable to keep all the babies took them along to our friends with the Rabbit Rescue and pictures of a family of Dwarf Lop babies were e-mailed to us for inclusion on their website.  'Heart over head' has resulted in 5 babies coming to join us.

In May 2006 we were joined by Bumble and Miss Bea.

Bumble the Harlequin

(who we lost Dec 2008)

Miss Bea the Sealpoint.

By August 2006 we had become so accustomed to their bad ways that we regarded it all as normal. Their cage was trashed daily; holes and tunnels dug in the lawn and regular escapes made from their run. The lawn has become a death trap with the only safe route being across the stepping stones which they have not yet discovered how to move.

They were then joined by their brothers Oliver and William who had remained at the rescue. They are just as bad and regard it as a challenge to outdo their siblings.

Oliver the Broken Harlequin William the Orange

That left just one still in Rescue, and it seemed a pity for him not to join the rest of the team.  So in September 2006 the family met up with Norman! He learned fast...

Norman, the Broken Sooty Fawn.

Now, a year later, they are beginning to mature a little.  They are easier to handle, less fearful but...JUST AS BAD AS EVER!  We hope we may live long enough to see them become loving, placid and devoted pets - the chances are minimal, however!
